2026-2027 Concerts at The Glasshouse announced
Today the Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead announced their new season of concerts, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it, returning in our capacity as Artistic Partner for four concerts across the year.
The first is on 20 October, as part of a major UK tour with pianist Benjamin Grosvenor. He’ll be playing Rachmaninoff’s legendary Piano Concerto No.2, which will share the programme with Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade and Bacewicz’s bracing Concerto for String Orchestra.
We return with a festive programme on 16 December, with a new edition of our Christmas Songbook, a mix of Christmas classics and big band hits that’s a perfect start to the seasonal celebrations.
2027 sees us bring two large-scale programmes to the wonderful acoustics of Sage One. First, on 27 February, is a concert which concludes with the muscular rhythms’ of Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, which shares the bill with Walton’s Viola concerto, featuring our very own Edgar Francis as soloist, as well as Paul Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
Last, but by no means least is a performance of Holsts’ The Planets on 7 May, again as part of a major UK tour. This is part of a cosmically-themed programme that starts with Josef Strauss’ waltz, The Music of the Spheres and Jonathan Dove’s Stargazer, featuring our Royal Philharmonic Society award-winning trombonist Peter Moore.
A Christmas Songbook is already on sale but for all other events public sale opens on 18 April, with Glasshouse Members booking opening on 9 April and subscribers booking opening on 16 April.
We hope to see you at the Glasshouse during the new season – and don’t forget we still have one performance left there before the summer, when we bring music from Hollywood’s Golden Age to the venue on 30 May 2026.
