A glittering programme including Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue (pianist Steven Osborne), which celebrates its centenary this year, plus Barber’s Adagio for Strings, recorded live from the Royal Albert Hall with the all-star Sinfonia of London. This 5 star concert of scintillating American classics is conducted by audience favourite John Wilson and also includes Copland’s ballet Billy the Kid suite and John Adams’s Harmonielehre. Fuchs Orchestral Works Vol.2
Written especially for John Wilson and Sinfonia of London by Grammy award-winning composer Kenneth Fuchs, Light Year is inspired by the paintings of abstract expressionist artist Helen Frankenthaler. Cast in six movements, the extremely evocative work captures the breath-taking scale and mysterious nature of the universe.

John Wilson and Sinfonia of London are joined by Aldeburgh Festival featured artist Roderick Williams for a highly atmospheric programme of orchestral showpieces including Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, which famously appeared in Disney’s Fantasia, and a world premiere by Sally Beamish.
