A glittering programme including Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue (pianist Steven Osborne), which celebrates its centenary this year, plus Barber’s Adagio for Strings, recorded live from the Royal Albert Hall with the all-star Sinfonia of London. Written especially for John Wilson and Sinfonia of London by Grammy award-winning composer Kenneth Fuchs, Light Year is inspired by the paintings of abstract expressionist artist Helen Frankenthaler. Cast in six movements, the extremely evocative work captures the breath-taking scale and mysterious nature of the universe.
